KAREN BREEDON

Karen is a dedicated Clinical Psychologist passionate about supporting young people and adults facing various mental health concerns. Karen completed her Master of Clinical Psychology at Griffith University and holds a Master of Science (Research) from the University of Southern Queensland.

Karen’s professional journey has been diverse, including roles as a school psychologist, in hospital settings, and crisis support. Her experience has equipped her with versatile skills, allowing her to employ an empathic, strengths-based, and client-centred approach in her work. She is located within our Work Well Health Centre in Paddington, Brisbane, and offers nature-based therapy in Toohey Forest, Nathan.

Karen specialises in areas such as anxiety, panic, depression, stress, emotional dysregulation, neurodiversity, trauma and grief and loss. She prioritises warmth, compassion, empathy, and understanding when working with individuals. Therapy sessions are tailored to meet each client’s specific needs, incorporating elements of fun and experiential activities, including creative arts, nature-based interventions, and walk-and-talk therapy.

Karen’s therapeutic approach is integrated, drawing from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Family Systems Approach, and Nature-Based and Adventure Therapy. Karen understands the importance of supporting the entire family when necessary.
